Ya está aquí el fin de semana! Algún plan especial? A mi me toca una vez más hacer la maleta, el lunes vuelo a Nueva York por trabajo, sólo serán un par de días pero como siempre, intentaré exprimir el tiempo al máximo... 

Tras leer este artículo, tengo muchas ganas de ver la exposición Cloud City en la azotea del Met. Y lo mejor de todo, estaré allí durante el Manhattanhenge!
¿Tenéis alguna sugerencia? ¿Qué os gustaría visitar si tuvierais la oportunidad de ir a NYC esta primavera?

And here's the weekend, finally! Any special plans? Once again I'll be packing as I'll fly to New York on Monday for work, only for a couple of days but as I always do, I'll try to squeeze the most of the time there... 

After reading this post, I'm eager to see the Cloud City exhibit at the Met rooftop. And the best of it, I'll be there while the Manhattanhenge!
Any suggestions? What would you like to visit if you had the chance to go to NYC this spring?

Uno de mis blogs favoritos es Sous Style de Pippa, da muy buenos consejos e ideas para la casa, esta semana ha escrito un post muy interesante sobre las hierbas aromáticas. En casa suelo tener varias, pero de momento la menta se resiste, no hay forma de mantenerla viva!

A mirror of life?

Hace unas semanas coincidí con una compañera de trabajo que además es periodista y estuvimos hablando de las redes sociales y su influencia en nuestras vidas. Contrastamos en qué redes estábamos presentes y el uso que le dábamos a las mismas.

Ella se calificó a sí misma como de voyeur, puesto que se limita a leer lo que otros escriben pero nunca participa.

Esto me hizo pensar, hay un paralelismo entre las redes sociales y la vida real? Nos comportamos de igual forma dentro y fuera del mundo virtual?

Desde entonces me he fijado en el comportamiento de varias personas de mi entorno respecto a su participación en Internet pero no he sido capaz de llegar a una conclusión. Algunos reproducen la misma actitud pero otros tantos se transforman. Me han llamado especialmente la atención aquellos tremendamente extrovertidos en su vida diaria que se vuelven pasivos o muy tímidos online.

¿Qué opináis? ¿Creéis que reproducimos nuestro comportamiento diario en Internet? ¿Somos lo que parecemos en las distintas redes sociales? ¿Pensáis que vuestro perfil online representa parte de vuestro carácter?

Few weeks ago I ran into a coworker, who is also a journalist, and we were talking about social networks and their influence on our lives. We talked about the networks in which we were present and how we used them.

She described herself as a voyeur, because she just reads what others write, but she never participates.

This made me wonder if there is a parallelism between social networks and real life (I mean offline life). Do we behave the same way online and offline?

Since then I've been observing the behavior of few people around me about their participation online, but I haven't been able to reach a conclusion. Some of them have the same attitude but many others get transformed. I've been particularly struck by those who are really extrovert in their life but they become passive or very shy when they're online.

What do you think? Do you think we reproduce our daily behavior on the Internet? Do we look like on social networks as we are? Do you think that your online profile portrays the way you really are?

About laziness...

Cuando tengo épocas de mucho trabajo, o cuando paso días fuera de casa, fantaseo con un día libre, un día en casa sin hacer nada productivo, ver pasar las horas y rendirme ante la pereza. 

Y esa pequeña fantasía a veces llega a realizarse, pero al cabo del día no puedo evitar sentirme un poco culpable, por no aprovechar el día libre (como si descansar y no hacer nada no fuera aprovecharlo de alguna forma). Y ese sentimiento de culpa me impide disfrutar plenamente de los días perezosos.

Hace años me ocurría algo parecido con los domingos por la tarde, no los disfrutaba del todo porque ya estaba pensando en todo lo que me esperaba al día siguiente. Afortunadamente he aprendido a disfrutar esas tardes y hasta les encuentro cierto encanto.

Así que no pierdo la esperanza, quizá algún día sea capaz de disfrutar plenamente y sin complejos de la pereza...

Me gustaría saber cómo lo manejáis vosotros, alguna vez os abandonáis a la pereza? Os sentís culpables si lo hacéis?

When I'm really busy at work or when I have to spend days away from home, I fantasize about a day off, one day at home doing nothing productive, just to watch how the hours go by and give in to laziness.

And sometimes that little fantasy comes to fruition, but then I can't help feeling a little guilty, for not making the most of this day off (as if resting and doing nothing is a total waste of time). And that guilt doesn't let me fully enjoy the lazy days.

Years ago I felt something like that every Sunday afternoon, I couldn't enjoy at all because I was thinking about the next day. Thankfully I've learned to enjoy those afternoons, and I even like them now.

So I'm hopeful, maybe someday I'll be able to enjoy fully and freely about laziness...

I wonder how do you handle it, do you ever abandon yourselves to laziness? Do you feel guilty about it if you do it?

Por fin es viernes! Ha sido una semana especialmente cansada pero ya ha llegado el fin de semana y las obras en casa ya están acabadas así que toca relajarse y disfrutar. Qué tal vuestra semana? 

It's friday, finally! It has been an exhausting week but the weekend is here again and the works at home are over so now it's my turn to relax and enjoy. How was your week?

Si seguís el blog ya sabréis que las cámaras de fotos son mi debilidad, por eso no os sorprenderá que ésta me haya robado el corazón... ahora sólo necesito que me toque la lotería!

Conocéis la tienda online Mr Wonderful? Tiene nuevos productos y es difícil resistirse si te gustan las manualidades, me gustan especialmente los sellos y el Washi tape, en la isla no encuentro tan bonitos. Por cierto, esta semana asistí a un taller de Washi tape, fue divertido y me dio muchas ideas, sales queriendo forrar todo de cinta. Vera, la chica que nos impartió la clase ofrece otros cursos de manualidades, uno de ellos para padres e hijos, me pareció una actividad interesante para hacer con niños...

There's an online shop, Mr Wonderful, that you should visit if you like DIY. I really like their stamps and the Washi tape, I can't find such beautiful things in the island. This week I've attended a workshop about Washi tape, it was fun and gave me a lot of new ideas, after that I wanted to cover everything with tape. Vera, the young lady who taught the class offers all kind of craft classes, some for parents and children, I think it could be an amazing date with children...

Qué os parece la henna? Yo sólo la he usado para el pelo, nunca en la piel. Lo habéis probado alguna vez? Aquí veréis tatuajes de henna que son verdaderas obras de arte.

Y he dejado para lo último lo más importante. Quería comentaros que mi amiga/hermana Sonia Sanmartí, que trabaja para The Love Comes Foundation, está detrás de la campaña Somos, una iniciativa que reúne a 25 ONG con el fin de promover la solidaridad y agradecer a todos los socios y colaboradores su participación. Me ha encantado la campaña y la encuentro muy original, no quiero contaros mucho más para no estropear el elemento sorpresa así que de momento os dejo el vídeo y ya os iré contando más detalles de aquí al 8 de junio.

And for the last, the most important. My friend/sister Sonia Sanmartí, who works for The Love Comes Foundation, is behind the campaign Somos, an initiative that gets 25 NGO's together to promote solidarity and to thank all members and partners for their participation. I love the campaign and I think it's really unique. The video below is part of the campaign, I'm sorry, it's only in spanish, but even if you don't understand the language I think you could get the idea. I don't want to explain much more or I'll ruin the surprise. I'll tell you more about it before the big day, June 8th.

About projects and superstitions...

Hace unos días leí una entrevista a Eva Mendes, en ella la actriz comentaba que no suele hablar de las cosas que quiere para el futuro porque cree que si lo dice en voz alta no se cumplirán. En un principio me pareció una superstición pero casualmente, esa misma semana leí un post de Brandi, de Not your average ordinary (uno de mis blogs favoritos), que hablaba del mismo tema. En este caso aportaba argumentos un poco más científicos.

Entiendo que Eva Mendes no quiera comentar sus planes con un periodista. Yo misma en alguna ocasión no he osado compartir algún anhelo personal por no gafarlo, reconozco que por pura superstición. Pero me parece que me inclino más por compartir los sueños con las personas que quiero, y me encanta que me hagan partícipe de los suyos. 

Si un amigo te cuenta alguno de sus proyectos, de una forma u otra tienes la posibilidad de colaborar para que se cumpla, aunque sólo sea dándole ánimos y transmitiéndole toda tu energía positiva. Y viceversa. No sería la primera vez que al contarle a un amiga alguno de mis sueños, no sólo me ha apoyado, sino que ha aportado ideas enriqueciendo el proyecto.

Few days ago I read an interview to Eva Mendes where she explained that she doesn't talk about the things she wants for the future, because she believes that if you say it out loud, it won't happen. At first I thought it was just a superstition but that same week I read a post by Brandi, from Not your average ordinary (one of my favorite blogs), and she talked about the same subject. In this case she presented a bit more scientific arguments.

I understand that Eva Mendes doesn't want to comment her plans with a journalist. Myself at some point I haven't dared to share some personal wish, for fear of jinx it, I admit it was just a matter of superstition. But I think I prefer to share dreams and projects with the people I love, and I really like when they share theirs with me.

If a friend tells you about a project, one way or another you'll be able to collaborate to accomplish it, at least encouraging and passing on your positive energy. And vice versa. There have been times when I told a friend about some dream, and I've got her fully support plus great ideas that finally enriched the project.

Pienso que el compartir sueños, deseos y proyectos forma parte de la amistad... Y es una parte bonita, porque si es bueno soñar aun es mejor hacerlo en compañía.
